Hey, I checked out the blog post about the book you got, I have it too, and have been saying pretty much the same thing--it's positively WONDEROUS to see friends and current software in a book about modern stopmotion. I totally tripped when I looked at the chapter about Nick H and saw Anthony Scott's SMA logo!
You might like Timing for Animation, too. It's a bit older, but explains how to make a pose read. Webster Colcord (California Raisins,Freaked titles, Monkeybone) recommends it.
